Inspired: Wolverine 1000 Mile Collections
As the Mobilized Garrison Series comes together, we’ve begun to think about crafting a unique Mobilized look styled around the series that includes complementary accessories. We think the Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot, and specifically The Garrison and Gentry Collections, fit the bill nicely.
Perhaps best known for their modern interpretations of the work boot, The Wolverine 1000 Mile boot is an American classic pure and simple. The Garrison and Gentry Collections combine the appeal of the work boot with a military and “field and stream” aesthetic respectively. Footwear from either collection will look great at street level in any urban environment.
The current color-way trajectory for the Garrison Series is earth tones with an emphasis on camouflage and varying shades of olive. Hence, it’s easy to imagine the Garrison Series “look” complemented by and accessorized with boots from either of the collections. My personal favorites are the Montgomery from The Garrison Collection and the Russell Field Boot from The Gentry Collection.
Ranging from USD $270.00 to USD $305.00 (for the Russell Field Boot), I think they are relatively accessible from a price perspective. On an editorial note, I saw a tweet over the weekend commenting on the sale of a pair of Cabourn-Viberg collaborative boots for no less than €1,400. This is one frame of reference, albeit extreme, in terms of price accessibility.
If well cared for, these boots will last a lifetime, and the Goodyear™ welt construction facilitates periodic re-soling. All of these styles incorporate rubber lug out-soles, which deliver excellent durability and longevity –read a lot of trips trips down to your favorite café for the espresso beverage of your choice. The only weak link may be the dress shoelaces found in three of the four styles, which are unlikely to have 1,000 miles of service life.
