Presidio Utility Shirt 2015
New for the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2015-16 season is the Presidio Utility Shirt from the Garrison Series. This latest iteration of the Utility Shirt features a 100% cotton, double gauze fabric in a herringbone twill weave. We’re planning four color ways, including the lovat shown in the production sample, above.
It’s foundation is a 1950s era Canadian Army field shirt. We’ve updated the fit to provide a more contemporary, tailored silhouette and replaced the pleated flap pockets with reverse-pleated pockets without the flaps. The overall look is more in keeping with a classic mid-20th Century work shirt, while maintaining the crispness of the original vintage military field shirt.
We’re focusing on shirting in 2015 and 2016 with a view to honing our fit and establishing a certain Mobilized “look” that complements core garments from designers who have been inspirational in the development and evolution of our brand. Margaret Howell and Nigel Cabourn are top of mind and feature prominently in our personal wardrobe along with a number of vintage, surplus military garments.
We think the 2015 Presidio Utility Shirt in lovat is a nice complement when worn under Margaret Howell’s Staff Jacket in Dark Army pictured below. In 2014, we produced a prototype version in an enzyme washed, 100% cotton printed twill depicted in Jungle below. It pulls out the olive in the camouflage pattern on Nigel Cabourn’s Tenzing Jacket, also pictured below.
We’re looking forward to September’s limited production run of the Presidio Utility Shirt in lovat, as shown here, as well as black, pink, and ecru. The palette is very versatile and will take us into Spring 2016.
